Your Body

Your Home For God, how-i-lost-50-pounds

A Little Bit About Me

I’ve been severely overweight in the past, weighing almost 100 lbs more than I weigh now, at one time. I know how difficult weight loss is, and how hopeless you can feel to make this aspect of your “home,” for God. To make your body “run well, be lovely and be ready to serve and bring glory to God.”

Is this part of the blog going to be all about weight loss? No. We’ll be talking about a lot of things, from eating clean, what that has meant for me, and my story, as it relates to sensitivities and things I avoid now, and we’ll talk about exercise.

We’ll talk about acceptance of your body, and yeah, we’ll talk about weight loss. Because, for me, it was/is my besetting sin. When this area is surrendered to God, and on track, everything else comes together. It’s the center for me.

One of the things that motivated me to finally lose the weight that I needed to lose, (and I’m not at goal weight yet, but still losing) was the knowledge that God was asking, prompting, me to do things and, because of lack of energy and ability, due to being obese, I didn’t obey.

I would get an idea that I knew came from the Lord, and I couldn’t do it. I was physically unable to get it done. I wanted to lose weight and see what God would do through me.

My husband and I. Here I am down to within 5 pounds of my wedding weight, at our daughter’s wedding. My lowest weight so far.

Wendy, After–not at my lowest weight, but on my way!

The Before and After Photos above were not at my heaviest or lowest weight. I’m still on the Journey with you!

Weight loss: Do you need to lose 40, 50, or more, pounds?

I believe one of the prerequisites to losing 40 or 50 lbs, or more, is desperation. You have to come to the place where you’re just plain desperate. You’re willing to do whatever it takes for weight loss to happen. As a Christian, that state of desperation takes on new meaning.

You have to be desperate to be changed by God, to repent of your sin, for gluttony is a sin, and ready to do whatever God asks you to do. Totally surrendered. Empty. When I am empty, then God can fill me. When I reach that state of desperation, and say to God, “Change me, Lord,” in any area,  because heart change is not just about weight loss, God does not delay.

He’s been working in your heart, and now you’ve finally reached that place of desperation–surrender. He’s very ready. God always answers the prayer very quickly, when I say, “Lord, change me.”

Let go

Will you come on the journey with me? The first step is to say yes to God, to trust Him, that what He’s got to offer you is better than anything you could imagine, the finest gold. And, what you’re holding in your hand is broken trinkets. Let it go and trust the Lord Jesus with your life. Trust Him to lead you to the weight loss, or the getting in shape, or the care of your body, the surrender of your body, that He desires. Let go.

If you’ve never repented of trying to run your life, and accepted Jesus Christ into your life, do so now. Accept that God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to be punished in your place for all your sins, and that God accepted Jesus’ payment, and gave proof that He did–Jesus said on the cross, “It is finished!”

Believe that God tore the curtain in the Temple from top to bottom, the curtain that separated the common man (us) from the Holy of Holies, where He was. God broke down the wall separating us from Him forever, by accepting Jesus’ payment for our sins. On the third day, Jesus rose from the dead, just as He said. He resurrected.

Your sins are paid for.  Done. Finished. If you believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose again, and you give Him the driver’s seat in your life, you’ll be gloriously saved from hell and all the suffering for your sin, and you will have eternal life, beginning that moment.

This is the new life, this is the beginning of the most incredible relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, the Heavenly Father, the Holy Spirit–3 in 1. Please let me know if you decide today is the day, to accept that amazing gift that’s being offered you! I’m praying you do!

I’m considering offering a weight loss group/course, depending on interest level. It would be open to a small group of women for free for a very limited time (a Beta group). If you would like more information, please email me at [email protected] No obligation. I know you can change, because I know my God. If He can change me, He can change anyone.
